Dr. Karen Plymel brings over 30 years of award-winning medical experience and a deep commitment to personalized, root-cause care. As Medical Director at Elevate Health, she is recognized as one of the region’s leading voices in functional and integrative medicine. Named a 2024 HOUR Detroit Top Doctor in Functional Medicine, Dr. Plymel is known for her unique ability to blend science, compassion, and innovation in every patient interaction.
Dr. Plymel’s medical journey began in a small rural town in the South and has since evolved into a distinguished career serving the greater Detroit area. She earned her Doctor of Medicine (MD) from Ross University School of Medicine and completed her residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology, becoming board certified in her specialty. Her passion for whole-person care led her to pursue advanced training and fellowships through the University of Arizona’s Andrew Weil Center for Integrative Medicine and the American Academy of Anti-Aging Medicine (A4M).
She holds multiple board certifications in Integrative, Anti-Aging, Metabolic, and Nutritional Medicine and is currently board-pending in Aesthetic Medicine.
Dr. Plymel is widely respected for her ability to unravel complex health conditions using advanced diagnostic tools and a highly individualized approach. She integrates conventional medicine with evidence-based alternative therapies to address the root causes of illness and help patients restore balance, resilience, and long-term vitality.
